You're a Slacker McFly!

Today I feel like a slacker. Which actually brings to mind that scene in Back To the Future when the principal of Marty's school says, "You're a slacker." Look it up for all you who can't remember that:)

It all started when I didn't wake up between 5:30 and 6:00 as I have been doing the past couple Mondays. Then it began to snowball. I already felt lazy because I didn't get up early, didn't take a shower in the morning, and was going to stay home all day (even though I was staying to keep watch over a couple repair men coming to his house). My uncle also has a house keeper come clean his house every so often. Something that I was definitely not accustomed with. So I cleaned up my room and made my bed because I was of the mindset that she didn't have to pick up after me. Her name is Sylvia by the way. She comes in on the train and my uncle picks her up and brings her to his home and she cleans all day. She is a sweet African American woman who put a smile on my face mainly because she found excitement in everyday minuscule things that other people take for granted. I would have talked with her all day if it wouldn't have been a distraction to us both.

I started working on some things for uncle Gordon. I was supposed to be making radio logs which is just info for and about the radio show he does. Gee wiz it is so hard to stay focused working at home! I dread when I go to college and have to do homework because it will basically be done begrudgingly...

A half hour passes and I was getting less and less done by every climbing second. When was it going to be lunch time again? Oh goodness gracious, it's only 9:30.
Me: "Sylvia? When are you going to break for lunch?"
Sylvia: "How bout 1:30?"
Me: "Ok. Great..."

Ok I got one log done and didn't feel very accomplished. And it was only dragging by at a snails pace.

Air conditioning repair guy is here! Yay for getting up and stretching my legs! He didn't seem especially happy to be there though....and he tripped on the fourth flight of stairs :) I didn't laugh at him because most people wouldn't take that well. I would have laughed myself though if I had tripped and brought joy to someones life. I asked him if he would like some water. He said no. Fine.

I had invited Sylvia to eat with me so I set the table and warmed up the Mexican Style Stuffed Peppers I had made the day before. We both sat down and she said grace and she was so excited to try it. She loved it! I found out that she likes olives and we both agree that people who don't are missing out.

Then the elevator repair guy came! I was kind of excited to see him. He was actually a pretty nice dude and it didn't take him long to fix the elevator. Sylvia absolutely refuses to ride in it. She says she doesn't want to get stuck. :) Then he heard me yawn and he said "I don't even want to hear it." which made me laugh.

Sylvia hung out with me for a little while. We talked about our families and she was so excited to see all my sisters and brother. She said they were are beautiful. I thought better of arguing the point ;) We talked about what I had been doing while here in Virginia and she loved my clothing purchases. Uncle Gordon then came to take her back to the train station and we parted ways. I look forward to seeing her next time.

When he got back I told him I didn't feel very productive because I wasn't very productive and that I don't want to work at home again if I can avoid it. He agreed that it is difficult to work when he's at home.

I convinced him that we should watch a movie and we watched 'I Am David' which we both enjoyed.

So I had turned Monday into a lazy day all day. Still feel like a slacker :)
